Claudine Mussuto is a mixed media painter who arrived at her art in her early 40s following an extended work history in non-profit administration and financial management.  Originally from New York, in 2004 she relocated from Boston to western Massachusetts where she paints and does freelance grant writing from her studio in Montague Center.  Claudine is the secretary of the Montague Cultural Council, an original organizer of Montague.Art.Movement, and a former member of Gallery A3 in Amherst.

Often, the impetus for Claudine’s work is a need to synthesize the array of singular ideas and images that are in constant motion and interaction within her, or some small or significant emotional, psychological, or spiritual death that requires an exploration of where she is in time and space.  She thinks of art and art process as prayer, and experiences the pieces she creates as focal points, offerings resonant with papyrus scrolls and Mayan codices.
